San Francisco Victorian Revival
After years of searching, our clients finally found their perfect Victorian: one that hadn’t been stripped of its original character. From day one, we approached the project with deep reverence for its history, soul, and craftsmanship.
Architect Stephen Verner masterfully reimagined the layout, opening up the floor plan while preserving the home’s inherent warmth. Builder Stephen McCormack brought the vision to life with the kind of care and quality the original craftsmen would have appreciated.
Our challenge was to design a traditional home that felt right for this modern young family. The result is a home where original character meets approachable, contemporary living. Jewel-toned textiles — purple velvets, teal accents, rich deep greens — float against a backdrop of warm wood floors, soothing neutrals, and cozy furnishings. A laid-back palette of natural rugs and vintage-soft upholstery grounds the energy, while the occasional punctuation of color keeps it lively.
Beyond just a renovation, this project is a testament to stewardship with intention. We sought to bring the heart of the home forward: a beaming, welcoming entry, living spaces that feel generous and thoughtful, and smaller spaces that cocoon rather than confine. Details like brass lighting fixtures, carefully replicated millwork, and handmade tile subtly weave the past into the present, its Victorian tradition uplifted by new color and fresh elements and ready for this young family’s future stories to unfold in.
