Tasteful and Timeless Piedmont Family Home

This historic Craftsman Piedmont family home built in 1911 was reimagined with modern elements to balance old with new. Contractors Kristofer Brekke and Mark Bohon were instrumental in bringing our ideas to fruition. They took great care in preserving the historical architecture. Each generously proportioned room had unique character, so we chose furnishings to match the personality and functionality of the space.

In the kitchen, we created zones for everything: counter sitting, making coffee, preparing food, and lounging around. We even added a little desk and chair for homework or checking the mail. The original artistic ceiling in the dining room was preserved, its colors drawn out and featured throughout the room. This is especially evident in the high-gloss fuchsia CEH credenza. We placed the homeowners’ own art, including metal leaves and foo dogs, to add a bit of kitsch and a personal touch.

Beautiful yet approachable, grand yet welcoming, warm yet elegant, a perfect harmony was achieved in this home. When the fireplace comes on, it becomes a hearth inspiring visitors to linger, connect, and be together in a sense of timelessness… exactly what this family had hoped for.

Standout pieces in the room include custom chairs lined in Janet Yonaty velvet from Loggia, a navy faux Belgian linen coffee table from Made Goods, drink tables and lounge chairs from Palecek and a console by Vanguard. A window bench from Loggia is lined with Jacquard weave fabric by Casamance, and the living room cabinet from Arteriors features an oak sable finish and brass inlay tracing the frame.
