His and Hers Primary Suites in Piedmont

We’re delighted to share this pair of beautifully distinct His and Hers bedrooms for longtime clients with whom we’ve had the pleasure of collaborating over the years. They asked us to help create separate sanctuaries — spaces that reflect their individual personalities while honoring their shared history. Inspired by their love of Asian antiques, jewel tones, and finely crafted details, we set out to design two harmonious retreats, each tailored to its occupant’s tastes and needs.

His bedroom features a moody palette anchored by a ginkgo-leaf wallpaper from Holland & Sherry, a nod to the Hotel Okura in Japan, which he and our photographer both fondly recalled. We designed a custom bed low enough to accommodate his antique nightstands and added brass corners for a refined finish. A custom desk sits at center stage in his office, accompanied by a locally upholstered reading chair that invites quiet reflection.

Her bedroom feels lighter and more intuitive, with a custom bed crafted using her own vintage Chinese windows carved with traditional bat motifs symbolizing love and good fortune. In the adjoining bathroom, tile from Ann Sacks and a custom vanity in Benjamin Moore’s Jade Romanesque add richness and elegance. Together, these rooms tell a story of duality and devotion — distinct, sovereign, yet deeply connected.
