California Ranch Style Remodel

For this remodel, we had the opportunity to work with a 1960’s-era California Ranch style home that had been largely unchanged since it was built. Our design team, in collaboration with McCutcheon Construction, transformed the layout of the home. Arca Design Group worked on the landscape architecture to bring new life to the surrounding gardens.

When envisioning the remodel of the ranch-style home interior, we knew we needed to rethink the kitchen floor plan. We repositioned the entries to the outdoor patio and dining room, moved french doors, and added a center island, a peninsula, and floor to ceiling cabinets. We took advantage of the original bay window by creating a cozy eat-in nook in that spot. Plus we created a mudroom for the kids.

Another highlight of this remodel was the Mad Men-inspired living room featuring a swanky hideaway bar closet, tangerine velvet chairs, audacious modern art, and a position of honor for the family’s grand piano.
